A little 'note' about me...
I grew up in Eastern Oregon with my two sisters (twins!), my parents and our cats. I was always involved in music in some way: piano lessons, performing in school musicals, and even just making up random songs!
I attended Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) to do 'something music related'; I hadn't made my mind up on teaching yet! While there, I not only focused on my education and learned many great skills that still help me today, I received the opportunity to travel on a choir tour to Europe twice! Our tours took us to Bulgaria, Finland, Estonia, Austria, Denmark and The Czech Republic. I found that I loved seeing different places, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures; but I didn't like the actual traveling to get there.
After getting a taste of student teaching, I knew this is what I wanted to do! I loved (and still love) seeing the 'lightbulb' moment when a student learned a new skill for the first time or really connected to something we were doing in class. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Emphases in Music, Education, and Music Education in 2007 and have been teaching Elementary music in Forest Grove ever since! I have taught at three schools in our district: Echo Shaw, Dilley, and Joseph Gale. Each school has given me opportunities to learn and grow as an educator as well as providing me with an endless amount of students; once you are my student, you are always my student!
When I'm not at school, I like to read, crochet, do yoga, sing, play piano, and spend time with friends and family. I live in Portland with my husband, Ryan, and our adorable dog, Abby.
